Arter Bench Dedication

May 22, 2021Mr. Steve Arter, a 1957 graduate who served on the West Irondequoit Foundation board for more than 20 years, was honored Saturday, May 22 at Seneca School, where a bench was dedicated to him.

Seneca School holds a special place in Steve's heart. It is where the U.S. Army veteran and lifelong Irondequoit resident attended elementary school.

"We proudly honor Steve Arter in dedicating a bench, in his name, on the campus of his beloved Seneca School. Steve is a model for volunteers everywhere. He brought history, insight, and humor to the West Irondequoit Foundation, we all wish a happy retirement to Steve," said WIF President Donna DePeters.

Steve might be most well-known for giving tours of Irondequoit High School to alumni during their reunions. Arter, who retired in 2020 from the WIF board, estimates he led more than 80 tours of IHS.
