IHS Eagle Auction
We're auctioning off a section of the old Irondequoit High School gymnasium floor!
The bidding has closed! Thanks to those of you who bid and donated.
We'll present the winning bidder their prize at the halftime of the boy's basketball game on Wednesday, December 15, 2021.
The West Irondequoit Foundation begins its next fundraising effort at 2 p.m today. Thursday when it launches a unique auction to own a section of the old Irondequoit High School gymnasium floor.
The auction closes at 2 p.m. December 14.
The 3-by-3 feet section of the floor features an Eagles logo and is approximately 40 years old. It is the same hardwood on which the 2016-17 boys basketball team and 2008 girls volleyball squad played most of their historic state championship seasons. "A lot of great players, a lot of great teams, a lot of great memories," says 35th-year boys basketball coach, Chris Cardon.
The winning bidder will be awarded his/her prize at halftime of the boy's basketball home opener on Wednesday, Dec. 15 vs. Webster Schroeder. Sections of the old hardwood floor were removed and preserved in the summer of 2020 when a new floor was installed. The piece being auctioned features the first version of the Eagles logo that became the new IHS nickname/mascot in 2002.
