ANNUAL CORNHOLE TOURNAMENT

Thc Champs! 'Team Name' (yes, that was the winning team's moniker) won the $750 first-place prize for the event! At above (from left to right), Kevin Madalena of Team Name, WIF President John Loury, and Dave Maynes of Team Name. Runners-up Felicia/Jamie took home $250.

A team with an odd name, "Team Name," won the 5th annual West Irondequoit Foundation Cornhole Tournament on September 27th at the Irondequoit Sports Center! Team Name bolted to a 17-0 lead in the Finals against Felicia/Jamie and never looked back. Dave Maynes and Kevin Madalena comprised "Team Name." Maynes was half of last year's championships squad, Big Stacks, too.

The big winner was our Foundation. The tournament raised an all-time Cornhole Tourney-high of $16,422. Thank you to the local business community for sponsoring our event! Thank you also to our title sponsor, Diamond Packaging (Karla Fichter), the Irondequoit Sports Center (Greg Genrich) for graciously donating its awesome facility, drink sponsor Rising Storm Brewing Co., and food sponsor, Chick-fil-A Irondequoit! The five WIF Cornhole Tournaments have now raised approximately $58,000! The Foundatoin raises money to underwrite teacher and staff-initiated grants for projects, equipment and programs for West Irondequoit schools. For more information or to donate online, go to westirondequoitfoundation.com. The Foundation started in 1987 and grant donations started in 1990. Since then, more than $1.1 million in grants have been given to West Irondequoit schools.
